The Shit Creek Review releases its thirteenth issue. I am fortunate enough to have one of my poems, "Chance," included alongside such high-quality work.
Mezzo Cammin publishes its Fifth-Anniversary Issue. I am proud to say that the issue features several of my sonnets, "The Aunt's Bed", "Black Friday", "Magical Thinking", "Twelve Days (or, To January 6th)" & "Value".
twenty20 Journal & The Flea
Jan. 17th, 2011 07:28 amtwenty20 Journal has released its second issue. My short poem "Operandi" features there. (twenty20 accepts work 20 words or fewer. One's bio also has to fit within those bounds. If you can accomplish both, I would recommend submitting. The editor is hands-on & very responsive.)
The Flea, back from a near-year hiatus, publishes my piece "Azrael" in its twelfth broadsheet. The journal showcases formal poetry & is presented in a quirky, antiquated style.

writing update
Nov. 24th, 2010 04:12 amI suppose the subject header should read "publishing update", because I realized recently that I haven't said much about my submission efforts lately.
Basically, I didn't submit much of anything this year until late summer/early fall.
( August stats )
( September stats )
( October stats )
( November stats )
( overall stats, August - November 2010 )
It's been a good season.

lit update
Jun. 20th, 2009 04:57 pmInspired by a discussion started by
blue_thundering, I decided to submit a batch of poems to mad swirl. As the editors have published work by me in the past, I think I have a good shot.
I also have work pending notification at Third Wednesday and The Ambassador Poetry Project.
Edit: Two more batches out, to The Sylvan Echo and Taddle Creek.

I have 78 poems that could be sent to markets.
112 pieces pend non-simultaneously at 26 markets.
13 markets (AGNI; Children, Churches & Daddies; Controlled Burn; Etchings; Gulf Stream; MiPOesias; Misunderstandings Magazine; Night Train; qarrtsiluni; The Quirk; Taiga; Weave Magazine; Up the Staircase) have rejected my work in the last three months. Five (Poesia, Third Wednesday, LiteraryMary, Alba & mad swirl) have accepted eight pieces altogether.
I have sent 24 submissions this month to eight markets.
By the way, you can download a pdf copy of the Oldest Profession issue of MiPOesias.

Post-a-Rejection-Letter Friday
Jul. 11th, 2008 09:25 pmIt's Post-a-Rejection-Letter Friday! I thank
vylar_kaftan for letting me know.
I've posted a couple of rejection letters on my LJ behind a friends lock over the last six or so months. I got a really in-depth rejection/acceptance letter from Möbius when I was 16, but I don't know if I still have that or not.
Here's a rejection I got from The Quirk this week:
J,
We really dug your stuff, but you were just shy of an acceptance. Please send us more of your work.
Cheers,
K

mad swirl is a very welcoming market, especially for entries off the beaten path. Also, the response time for submissions is lickety-split.

Micropleasure
Jun. 24th, 2008 12:27 am(or, "Sexuality: My Problem Child")
The initial print run for Micropleasure was a small number of copies, a gift from my editor. I gave a copy to
sarahmichigan, and then I didn't know what to do with them. Ultimately, I decided to give a few copies to family members and send the rest off for review.
( back history of how I learned that some poems some family members should not read )
I gave a copy to my mother, my brother and my sister. ( their reactions )
( an explanation of themes )
( ordering information )
