The Shit Creek Review releases its thirteenth issue. I am fortunate enough to have one of my poems, "Chance," included alongside such high-quality work.
Mezzo Cammin publishes its Fifth-Anniversary Issue. I am proud to say that the issue features several of my sonnets, "The Aunt's Bed", "Black Friday", "Magical Thinking", "Twelve Days (or, To January 6th)" & "Value".
twenty20 Journal & The Flea
Jan. 17th, 2011 07:28 amtwenty20 Journal has released its second issue. My short poem "Operandi" features there. (twenty20 accepts work 20 words or fewer. One's bio also has to fit within those bounds. If you can accomplish both, I would recommend submitting. The editor is hands-on & very responsive.)
The Flea, back from a near-year hiatus, publishes my piece "Azrael" in its twelfth broadsheet. The journal showcases formal poetry & is presented in a quirky, antiquated style.

Poetry Super Highway showcases two of my poems, "Road Trip Desert" & "Dreaming the Angel", as part of its weekly feature spotlighting the work of two poets. I share the stage with Howie Good (an incredibly talented author).
PSH has been around since 1997. I am honored to be part of its tradition.

writing update
Nov. 24th, 2010 04:12 amI suppose the subject header should read "publishing update", because I realized recently that I haven't said much about my submission efforts lately.
Basically, I didn't submit much of anything this year until late summer/early fall.
( August stats )
( September stats )
( October stats )
( November stats )
( overall stats, August - November 2010 )
It's been a good season.

I completed a major project today! All in the span of one morning! Yay!
I submitted a chapbook manuscript. I had to pull together the ms (locate the best pieces & order them accordingly); proofread like mad (standardizing spacing & apostrophes [non-"smart"]); & convert the format to PDF, a task I'd never done.
This is huge for me, as I haven't submitted a chapbook ms in many months. Considering how many pieces I've had published in the last 18 months, this is really the stage to which I should be advancing, but I've been dragging my feet. Now I'm pushing forward.
(Also, I have four free PDF conversions left. So that's exciting.)

preparations
Oct. 31st, 2010 09:13 pmI'm busy submitting batches of poems to various magazines, as I won't really have the time to do so next month. A handful of journals list their deadlines as today or tomorrow, so I'm buckling down, despite doing a fair bit of research earlier in the month.
NaNo is tomorrow! Alrighty then.
I wish my Poet's Companion weren't packed up in storage somewhere.

Mezzo Cammin, a journal devoted to formal poetry by women, has accepted three of my poems ("Season's Arc", "Twelve Days [or, To January 6th]" & "Sole Instinct") for two of its upcoming issues, with a request for another piece.
The Mayo Review also has extended an honor, accepting "Broken" for the Spring 2010 issue, scheduled for release in April.
