I've had a chance to see your resume online and I'd be
interested in talking to you. My name is Chuck
K***** and I'm a Regional Vice President with Primerica, a
Citigroup company. Please call me at
734-XXX-XXXX or email me at X@primerica.com. I'm
usually in during the day, but the
best time to reach me by phone is from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Someone to whom I didn't submit my Monster resume found it anyway, and might have a job for me?

I think what I'm feeling mostly is... shock. Perhaps amazement is a better description.

Did this check out?

If I got an email like that, I would trash it on the assumption that it was MLM spam.

Well, I have been working on my Monster resume pretty intensely this week (activated two new versions; applied for nearly 200 jobs nationwide).

The phone number he gave me starts with the 734 prefix, which I know is in SE Michigan, which is where I'm from (and where I'd be staying if I move back for any length of time).

I'm definitely calling him Monday. I, at this point, have really nothing to lose. :)

Sounds like it could be legit. Do be wary if you get invited to a "business meeting" instead of an interview. The Multi-Level Marketing cultists troll the resume boards looking for likely marks to induct into their "downline."

Best of luck with the job hunt.

Take care.

It doesn't sound interesting, actually; I could tell by the net address of the guy that the job would probably concern mortgage. But I have mortgage experience, so maybe I wouldn't completely hate my job.

I only need to work until I go grad school, anyway. (And working in Michigan a year would give me residency there....)

As for being a Christian Scientist... I don't think I am one, but I've read up on some of their literature (including some about the woman who began the group in the 1800s), and I agree with a lot of their points. (I do believe in modern pharmacology, however. I hope to study psychopharmacology if/when I get to grad school, actually.)

Hmm. I'd love to learn more about Christian Science. If you could direct me to some accurate (and preferably interesting) websites about the movement and its beliefs, I'd be most grateful.

erm... interesting websites... i don't really look up my religion online, so i wouldn't have a clue! sorry.
Have you ever been into one of our churches? maybe you should go to a service. where do you live? In Australia, they're incredibly open and i find them interesting.

I live in bumbfuck Iowa (though only 15 minutes away from Iowa City). Plans for the near-immediate future entail moving from here to SE Michigan for six months or so.

I do have a regular church in Michigan, but I'm willing (and actually eager) to try out new sects, new denominations, new paths of spirituality. If you know of any places I could visit in SE Michigan, please let me know.

(In all likelihood, it's MLM sales. They commonly catch people like that. Best of luck though! And even if they're not ideal, it's great to hear you're reeling potential employers in anyways)

I refuse sales positions out of hand. :) But thanks for the info.

(He wasn't at his desk when I called, so I'll have to call him again tomorrow.)
