Orson Scott Card. I have yet to read any of his work. (I know!)

He's said some things about democracy, homosexuality, and marriage. Keep in mind this was published by the Mormon Times.

In response, [livejournal.com profile] pnkrokhockeymom points to [livejournal.com profile] jimhines' I For One Welcome Our New Gay Overlords as well as [livejournal.com profile] scalzi's No Fair! You’re Saying What the Amendment Does! (Actually, regarding the latter, I think that had that happened in Michigan, Proposition 2 would never have passed.)

These people have said pretty much all that I would have attempted--except this one thing. The final paragraph (other than being 'the "get-out-of-rape-free" card', as [livejournal.com profile] scalzi said) seems to encourage Americans to desire (at the least) or act (at the most) to see the demise of the Constitution. Last I checked, that was treason, or at least the hint of it.

I think you're right about Prop. 2. I ranted about the lawsuits when they were first filed, after it passed, if you're interested:

Orson Scott Card is a good writer, but I have a tendancy to greatly prefer to read the first novel in a series of his and be not so crazy about the rest of the series. I really enjoyed Ender's Game (which stands well on its own), was puzzled at where he was heading with the next book and when I finished the third, I nearly threw it at the wall.
