Everything he says is exactly right. And what of that 22-year-old who was killed earlier this year, trying to get an accurate count of the civilian dead in Iraq? All the stories I heard about her, none said what her tally was.

The press is complicit in keeping the American people ignorant of the human cost of this elective war. This is information we need to know.

Judith Miller. How do I feel about her? I believe that her articles helped lead this country to war. For that, I have no sympathy that she is now spending time in jail. However, I am glad she did not reveal her sources. At the same time, if protecting her source means that she is obstructing justice, well, I don't know how to feel about that.

Either way, we need a federal shield law for journalists. Like, yesterday.
