Aug. 13th, 2007 11:06 amThe White House decides to drop the bombshell news of Rove's resignation right after Congress recesses.
Why would they drop this news on a Monday morning? And for him to give the standard "I'm leaving to spend time with my family"--that just doesn't jive.
Speculation starts here.

Date: 2007-08-13 06:36 pm (UTC)Bush wouldn't let him go in 2006 because of all teh scandals, rove wanted to go do some governerships and senate races, but he was stuck with W until Bush said he could leave, and finally, at the end of the summer here in 2007, Bush says, ok you can leave.
I give Rove 1 week before he announces which candidate he will be working for in the next election. Hiring Rove is a two edged sword. On one hand he's the best, on the other, hiring rove means that your candidate acquires the stink of Bush. It seems like McCain would benefit the most from hiring Rove.

Date: 2007-08-14 04:29 am (UTC)I think Rove has a stink of his own.
maybe. but if I had to vote for who I despised least, bob shrum or karl rove, Rove is definitely preferable. Shrum is a 8 time presidential loser who manages to magnify everything he does takes credit for every advance, blames others for every defeat, talks as if butter wouldn't melt in his mouth and is probably going to be involved with the presidential run in 2008, like it or not. Hypocritical sack of shit, I despise him.
If there were a democratic karl rove with all the dirty tricks, shameless whispering campaigns, the shift boat attacks. You know, you have to admire the shear audacity of the shift boat attack it was genius and it cost John Kerry the presidential election.
There's only one thing americans hate worse than a cheater, and that's a sore loser who can't figure out the reason he constantly loses is because he sucks. There's a grudging admiration for Karl Rove.
Is it Rove who destroyed the republican party for the next generation or george bush? That's really the weakest part on rove's resume that between the iraq war, the katrina fiasco, the bridge to nowhere pork, the bloated government, the most massive increase in federal government in history, and the constant shameless lies, well young people have given up on republicans, Bush killed the republican party for a generation.
so no, I don't really feel that rove carries his own stink at least no different from any other candidate handler, any problems political operatives have with rove is the fact that the use of the victories Bush gained by employing Rove were used to destroy his own party's most basic principles.
