A feint. shrubjr. knows there's no way she's getting by the committee and is thus throwing the liberals a bone so they ease up on him a bit. His next nominee will be the real deal.
Maybe, maybe not. He did appoint a guy with only two years' judicial experience as the Chief Justice. Appointing someone with no experience as one of the lesser justices is a logical next step.
They thought maybe Roberts was a feint too. Guess not.
Reading through the rest of the comments in this thread, I'm now confused... the left are finding fault with her? Interesting. I had not heard that. That's what I meant by "throwing the liberals a bone," because the liberals-in-wolf's-clothing to whom Bush normally caters loathe this woman. (I believe Michelle Malkin actually called for her death recently.)
Both Malkin and Coulter "think" with their emotions rather than any form of reason. Neither is a conservative, nor are the religionists sitting in office.
That doesn't make them liberal. And frankly, conversely, I have zero trust for any politico who can't balance emotion and reason rather than cutting emotion out entirely.

Not to say she isn't, I just doubt it.

Date: 2005-10-07 01:58 pm (UTC)I find it hard to fathom that a liberal would ask for anyone's death penalty--or, if they would, it wouldn't be for political beliefs.
