How is it possible that, when copying tracks from my Tracy Chapman CD onto my hard drive, the music that comes up and overlays is "Paperback Writer" by the Beatles?

Well, playing back the track that was in question ("New Beginning"), the superimposition seems to have vanished.

That was strange.

why deny

[livejournal.com profile] lameautarch mentioned today that it seems my laptop and I have become grafted.

It's rather true.

My project for the foreseeable future: copy all of my music on hard media to my laptop, so I can eliminate some of the weight I have to lug around every day.

A new day

I am posting from the comfort of my own computer.

[livejournal.com profile] netmouse, I should have jumped up and down when you handed me this laptop yesterday. It wasn't until last night when I started playing around with it that I realized that this changes everything.

I am indebted.

Tentatively, I have decided to name my electronic helpmate Hermes. Thoth also comes to mind.

I did some detective work on my computer and found files that weren't indispensible. In fact, there were things actually entitled "emalware". I relabeled them, shut down the computer, rebooted. It's running much faster and quieter now.

However, when I look at what programs are running when I'm not on the internet, Explorer still shows up. Which means there's still something on this machine, somewhere, that needs to go.
