Also, I want to use blueberries in a stew. Please let me know if you have any ideas and/or resources.

This recipe has some veggie elements, but the blueberries are not in the stew itself.

I have been hungering for vegetables lately. Last night, I wrote a shopping list that included at least ten veggies. Today, I purchased basic ingredients for sauteed zucchini.

This is a major step. Just ask [livejournal.com profile] netmouse. :) I mean, zucchini was never prepared in my home when I grew up. It wasn't until [livejournal.com profile] netmouse started having me over to teach me how to cook that I developed a taste for the odd squash.

I have the zucchini, a red bell pepper, marinara sauce, grated fresh Parmesan cheese and fettucine. I'm at my dad's, and I know he has spices like basil and oregano as well as a bottle of olive oil. There should also be an onion and fresh tomato (although I'm still of two minds as to whether I will need tomato when marinara sauce will be used).

I haven't found a recipe that incorporates the bell pepper, but I'm sure it wouldn't take away from the overall flavor.

I'll tell you how it turns out. See comments.

I've decided to try out a cobbler recipe, substituting mulberries for blueberries. I should add salt to this recipe, I think, as mulberries are so much sweeter than blueberries and not tart at all.

Wow. That turned out better than I thought it would.

This recipe was a combination of two separate ones. I will look them up again and attribute them properly.

I went mulberry picking after midnight last night. I actually had more fun than I thought I would. (I think the activity satisfies a very primal gathering desire.)

The only mulberry trees I know of are on the corner of Stadium and Packard (that is, at a major intersection) and downtown, near the edge of campus. I didn't want to walk too far if I didn't have to; however, as I pretty much picked the nearer tree clean of the ripest berries, I might have to journey farther next time. (For those in Ann Arbor, do you know of any mulberry spots? I'm going to have to scout around my neighborhood.)

I spent a lot of time this morning picking off the stems. This evening, I shopped for ready-made crusts, and tonight I plan to make either a pie or tarts.

It's been entirely too long since I had a baked mulberry item. Mmmmmmmm.

(Also on the baking agenda: apple cobbler or crisp)

This weekend, I made applesauce apple crisp. It was a big hit. I think I will make more tonight.

I remade the smoked sausage recipe with real apple this time, along with grated cheddar cheese. The dish is greatly improved. Not only is it tasty, but it's quick, too!

Okay, this turned out, but it could have been better. It needs some zing, and I'm not sure how to effect that. I'm open to suggestions.
