Well, that was an eventful Golden Globes.
Jan. 19th, 2003 11:53 pmLessee...
We had Harrison Ford pronounce one of the night's nominees as "Adaption".
Bono said "fuck" on primetime television. (I'll be very surprised if NBC doesn't get fined.)
Jack Nicholson owned up to taking a Valium tonight.
Philip Glass was nominated for Best Score. (I literally cheered.)
The Hours beat all of its competition (including Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Pianist, which I hear is excellent).
I'm glad Curb Your Enthusiasm won for Best TV Comedy. Larry David's speech was spot on, too. "This is a sad day for the Golden Globes. It is however, quite a good day for Larry David. I suspect the wife will be a little forthcoming tonight."
I knew Nicole Kidman would get Best Actress. No doubt in my mind.
I'm also glad Chris Cooper won for Best Supporting Actor in Adaptation. The performances in that film are just incredible. That he and Meryl Streep both won is a testament to the strength of the picture. (And Nicholas Cage definitely deserved his nomination as well.)
Moral of the story: Go see Adaptation! (Oh, and The Hours, too.)
