Yes, and it's awesome. I just wish I could do it more often.
It started with just a bunch of flying dreams in Jr. High, but since then the dreams have gotten weirder and more fun. I'm almost never in COMPLETE control, but often I can change things just by wanting to. It's like being a mini-deity. Sometimes when I know I'm dreaming I can just will something, look away, and when I look back it's happened (or there, or whatever).
I have a book about doing this better, but I haven't had a chance to read it yet.
I love all my dreams equally. No, fa real: it's not like when mothers lie and pretend they don't prefer one kid over the other. Even my nightmares are fun, and I love reliving them when I wake up. ... Holy crap, I sound like a big goth. But even though I may feel abject terror and powerlessness in a dream, I don't...well, I don't really mind it. Moreover, I like reliving it after waking up.
Usually, if I'm going to become lucid, it's somewhere in the middle of a nightmare--and I rarely do anything to stop it. I go along with the narrative (or lack thereof) and see where "I" end up--knowing that it's just a dream.
Then there are the floating dreams--I rarely have flying dreams, but I have a recurring dream (that I now recognize as soon as it starts) where I glide down the hallways of my old high school. Just jumping, then gliding. It's even more of a blast when I realize that when I want to, I can just hover, or jump higher.
So, why ya asking? A particularly disturbing lucid dream?
No, I rarely if ever dream lucidly these days. (I think I used to when I was younger.) Which I don't mind.
There are times I am dreaming, and I realize I'm interacting with people who are no longer alive. I'll start to realize I'm dreaming, but I'll willfully remain in the dream, because generally once I really understand I'm dreaming I tend to wake up. So, I guess there are times I'll start to be lucid, but I'll resist that.
I have one once every couple months and they freak me the hell out. In these dreams I'm always gradually realizing I'm lucid, and there's some other malevolent entity trying to suppress that understanding -- the feeling is as if being lucid is like putting a spotlight on myself in front of entities I don't want noticing me. I don't know if that makes any sense. But these dreams are the only things I have that could be described as 'nightmares.' Usually I dream of baseball and sex.
Yes, I do tend to lucid dream. I really enjoy them. Without it I am not sure where I would be today. I use to suffer from serious nightmares which got me to learn to control the dreams I am in.
I used to before I had my son. I need a decent amount of unbroken sleep befiore I get to that chemical state wherein I can dream lucidly, but babies are good for breaking that up. And then I got into a pattern of waking up over and over in the night. However, my recent moratorium on caffeinated soda has had an interesting side effect - I now sleep through the night! So maybe I will start lucid dreaming again. I really hope so, becaue I do like it, although maybe "like" isn't quite the right term - it seems to help me work through some deep internal issues when it happens. The dreams can be duisturbing, until I remmeber I can make whatever I want to happen, happen.

I enjoy the dreamworld.
