I was going to say that "surprising" shouldn't be the word, but rather "outrageous." But "outrageous" implies some initial shock or surprise.

That the WH is stocking what is supposed to be an independent press with friendlies should be outrageous. I'm afraid that more people will look at it cynically, though, which is a dangerous reaction for a democratic populace to have. Cynics are less likely to agitate for change, as they already believe that the system is corrupt and/or out of their reach.

Well, you'd have to do more than I have, which is write letters to the editor and/or send letters to your local Congressmen. There are some Congressmen who are demanding information as to the White House's credentialing service and have filed FOIA requests, but most are content to sit on the sidelines.
