One program technique has been to try to bolster students’ self-esteem, based on the theory that self-confident teenagers would not have sex. Those programs, which sometimes do not even mention sex, have shown no effect, Pruitt said.
Okay, I've known girls who threw themselves at people for validation, but in general, I've found that the more self-confidence I have, the more sex.
Your looking at it all wrong, they know that Teen sex increases after abstinence programs, and so do teen pregnancies, since
"Abstinence-only programs, which have sprouted up in schools across the nation, cannot offer information about birth control and must promote the social and health benefits of abstaining from sex."
This means more babies in the lower socio-economic group, which means more soldiers for the next generation of America's wars for oil and resources.
No, they pretend birth control is "not medically necessary". Since you know, women could just refuse to have sex. (Apparently this doesn't aopply to men, since Viagra is all about allowing them to have sex)
Well, viagra helps with a sexual dysfunction. Being able to get pregnant isn't a case of a dysfunction - it's part of having a healthy reproductive system. >>wades out of the puddle of sarcasm<<
I'm pretty sure I have a documentable medical condition for which birth control is the main treatment. It would just require a couple of thousand dollars of surgical tests, when I can just take BC and have the symproms disappear. A lot of other women do too. It totally pisses me off that erectile dysfunction is a covered medical disorder while dysmennoreah is not. I'm so glad my insurance plan, as awful as they are at paying claims, includes prescription coverage for birth control.
Actually, I have PCOS, for which birth control pills are a standard form of treatment. There are some others as well. Luckily for me, I live in Massachusetts. They require insurance companies to cover contraception.
Yeah...no. The federal government will not pay for any reproductive services except childbirth. If a woman in the army/navy etc wanted a boob job - or if the wife of a soldier wanted a face lift you and I would pay for it - but if said woman wanted birth control pills or an abortion she would need to pay for it out of pocket.
Similarly, even though there have been numerous studies proving the efficacy and safety of Mifepristone (the French call this RU486) in European countries for *Decades* the FDA took over 10 years to approve the drug and then only with the strictest warnings about it's safety - (It's statistically safer to have a first trimester abortion than to have a baby in this country regardless of the method but whatever...)
Viagra? Well that little darlin' sailed right through the FDA and it's responsible for more deaths annually than Mifepristone - actually Mif can only really be traced to 1 death in the US in the past couple of years and they can't even prove the death was caused by the drug.
