I wish I could even pretend that this sort of crap surprises me. But as soon as Bush got Ohio I knew that the first step would be upping the pressure on anti-gay and anti-abortion legislation. After all, that's the platform he got elected on, and this country is in a tailspin of ignorance and prejudice of late so why not?
Geez, these right wing nutcases think that because gay marriage bans passed means that the bulk of America is a bunch of foaming homophobic fascists like them.
The Gay Marriage bans passed because most of America has *Religious* beliefs that Marriage is between a man and a woman. Most of America also knows someone gay, and doesn't want to deny civil union type benefits. But they *believe* it should not be called a marriage.
Give it a few years and maybe they will wise up to the idea that the government probably shouldn't have anything to say in something as personal as a marriage.
