My temp agency called this afternoon to inform me that my site boss did agree to my request for a raise. I asked them what terms were they able to work out, and after being put on hold for about five minutes they came back and told me that they were only able to negotiate for an extra dollar.

I don't know whether to be excited or insulted.

I know the feeling. I was given a promotion at my job a couple of months ago, and the owner decided to give me .50 less than the other guy who had that position before me. It felt good to get the raise, but bad in the way that it reminded me how shrewd business owners can be-
