i remember that theory, they were looking for a reason for women to live past menopause, a justification if you will...they came up with a role for grandmothers in society as doctors, nannies, leaders and storytellers (keepers of culture). they didn't worry about justifying old men, the mortality rate for men was much higher, they argued; hunting, raiding, fighting etc. reminds me of the old confucian saying "if you see an old man, take a lesson. if you see an old woman, throw a stone."
