Yep, there's a sort of built-in goofy highbrow irony in a headline like that, eh? Not much more you can do but just chuckle to yourself.

In fact though, a cosmologist named Joao Magueijo describes the VSL theory (Variable Speed of Light, or Very SiLly theory depending on who you're talking to) in his book "Faster Than the Speed of Light".

The book is as much about the politics of ego that apparently permeate the world of cutting edge physics, as it is about the actual physics.

The blurb on the cover describes the book as "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas meets A Brief History of Time."
