So I got the plates today. So now the car is legally drivable.

I'm not terribly excited about having a car, surprisingly enough. If I didn't need to get a car before next month, I wouldn't have picked this one; I would have tried to save more.

I just have the feeling it's going to be one big hassle.

it is always worthwhile to still use public transport. when we move my car over to the new insurance, i am going to see if we can get a discount since we put less then 200 miles on it a month. many companies offer that.
hopefully it WONT be a hassle and will run well!
