My doctor prescribed me eye drops to deal with my eye problem (bump on the cornea). I went to the drugstore to get the prescription filled. As the pharmacists were finishing up my order, one of the ladies called out to me and asked, "Did he [another pharmacist] tell you what the price of this is?" They knew I'd be paying out-of-pocket.

I shook my head.

"It's $62.99."

I shrugged and said that'd be okay.

Now I get to put two drops in my left eye for five days. I suppose I could calculate how expensive each drop is, if I wanted to go through such a useless exercise.

If you put 2 drops in one eye for 5 days, each drop is $6.30.

Pretty damn expensive.

I realized it wasn't that hard. I just didn't want to put any real thought to it.

The real stinger is that I don't think the drops will really do anything, besides relieve the irritation. After a week, the bump will probably still be there. And I'll still be out of $63.

Yeah, I know. 3 a.m. and still no sleep.

Goodnight. :)

(Oh, and in my defense, I can take the drops more often than just twice; that's the low end of the recommendation. It could be two drops every 3-4 hours for five days. So I suppose they get more economical if used thusly.)

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I'm supposed to administer the drops twice a day. So it's four drops a day for five days, which I guess would cut your estimation in half.

Again, those are the doctor's instructions. I could still take the drops as indicated on the bottle, which would yield 6-8 drops daily for five days. (But I won't.)
