Kerry's Missing Message . . .

In the past month or so, everything has gone wrong for George W. Bush. He has been criticized at hearings of the Sept. 11 commission for being lackadaisical about terrorism. Richard Clarke accused him of being weirdly obsessed with Iraq. More than 100 Americans have been killed there in the past 30 days, and Bush was so inarticulate in his recent news conference that you could say he violated the standards of his own "No Child Left Behind" policy. Still, if this keeps up, he'll win reelection in a landslide.

I wasn't able to read the article but I assume the pointw as that GW will win not because he's the best man for the job but because Kerry hasn't made himself into a better alternative? If that's the case it truly is depressing me. I have a feeling he won't win though. I asked my elementary kids (we were doing a brief lesson on news events through a TIME for kids article on Iraq and the 911 commission) what they thought of GW and a couple of students raised their hands when and they said they wanted him to be reelected. I thought it was interesting that a lot of the class said they didn't like GW but when I asked if they supported Kerry they of course had no response. Ignoring that they probably were just not paying attention I thought it was interesting.
