bah dont do that if you dont put yourself out there, you will never know if things could go furthur. at least asking for coffee is easier then asking for dinnera nd a movie, and far less "i liiiiiike you!" feeling.
I suppose, though I think it's really subterfuge. "I like you, but I'm going to pretend that I don't by asking you to something that doesn't have as much cultural importance as asking you out to dinner."
Coffee is kind of a cop-out. Still, I guess it's kind of flattering.
