I saw a movie this weekend that came out the same year as the matrix and i didnt see it but now i wish I would have. Its called ExistenZ and its definately made by david cronenberg. He has a bizare and perverse sence of the synthisis of technology and biology and although this is not as disturbing as Video Drone, or Crash (both worth seeing for all thoses other techno-perverts like me out there) the film ExistenZ brings new meaning to the term trippy.
I saw it last week as well. I've been meaning to write up a review of it for my own site. When I left, I was completely enchanted by the movie and by its ending but, once I had some time to think about it I feel the ending doesn't stand up after a while.
I'm loathe to go more into why here since I don't know who's seen it and who hasn't. I'll post my thoughts in a friend's only post and you can let me know if I'm full of it ;-)
I can see why you think the end is a bit weak. But the movie has lingered with me enough to make me want to see it again. (I'll be waiting until it's out on video, though, as I won't be shelling out $8.75 again any time soon for any release.)
