The ideal Church exists just as that--an Ideal. The only "true Christianity" that can exist is purely conceptual--it cannot be embodied on the temporal plane. Thus, the "true" Church is spiritual--reflected on the physical plane, but never literally established there.

I'm just taking a Platonic view of the Christian church. In fact, I wouldn't doubt if this thought hasn't been put forward before, by a much more talented writer than myself! But, the thought came, and I simply recorded it.

I'm such a weird supporter of Christianity. It's strange.

Was Thomas Aquinas' view anything like that? I know he was very influential but I can never remember how!
