So we got digital cable about two weeks ago. However, when the man came to install it the first time, I was asleep and my mom wasn't sure if it was supposed to go into my room. So my dad had to call them back and have them come back. They said they'd be back that same day.
The next day we called and they said they'd be by that Thursday. The guy came out, looked at my room and said that there'd be no way to install in there without drilling into the wall. But he couldn't drill until we got permission from management, so he left. My mom went to the office the next day and got written permission. It was just a matter of time until the guy could come back and finish the installation.
My dad told me at 7:30 this morning that the cable guy would be by this afternoon. This threw a real kink in my plans, which was to record Condoleezza Rice's testimony. So I called in, explained that I'd have to meet the cable guy and that I'd be in later in the day. I began to tidy up my room and move things away from the wall (which I would have done the night before, had I known before this morning that Comcast would be out this morning).
I watched the testimony (I recorded it anyway, which is good, because I had to make phone calls and I got online during parts of it). Surely by the time it was over, the guy would be there. No. I found the phone number my dad had two weeks ago, called it and got someone's voice mail. I left my name, my complaint and my number, then arranged with my sister a ride to work.
Right as I was walking out the door, the phone rang. It was Comcast calling back(!) to let me know that someone would be out within an hour. I told my mom that if no one came by to call me at work so I could call Comcast again.
I got a call around 70 minutes later. It was my mom. She told me that the serviceman had arrived, but there was a problem. Management saw that he was going to drill into the outside wall, which is the only wall he could drill, and said that he didn't have permission to do that. I asked the guy if there was no other way he could make the installation, and he said not without creating a tripping hazard, which is something he couldn't do for liability reasons.
So, after all that, I still don't have cable in my room.
Then I came home and broke one of the ears off my antenna.
Not a good TV day.
