Tennessee County Wants to Ban Gays

The county that was the site of the Scopes "Monkey Trial" over the teaching of evolution is asking lawmakers to amend state law so the county can charge homosexuals with crimes against nature.

The Rhea County commissioners approved the request 8-0 Tuesday.

Commissioner J.C. Fugate, who introduced the measure, also asked the county attorney to find a way to enact an ordinance banning homosexuals from living in the county.

"We need to keep them out of here," Fugate said.

Methodist Church Tries Lesbian Minister

Dammann, 47, is charged with "practices declared by the United Methodist Church to be incompatible to Christian teachings." Church law prohibits ordination of self-avowed, practicing homosexuals, although the church's social principles support rights and liberties for homosexuals.

(sigh) Once again the American South is boldly leading the way into a new era of progressive intellectualism, enlightenment and human freedom, I see. Feh.
One is tempted of course, to question why any self-respecting gay person would WANT to live in such a bumfuck backwards ass place, but that is, of course, besides the point, since you could have the unfortunate luck to be born there and discover at the age of 13 that you are a gay criminal through no choice of your own. Feh.
People make me tired with their idiotic hatred of all things different.
