I think "cosmological constant" is a better way of looking at the energy than as "dark energy", unless they can show that the energy isn't evenly distributed. It seems to me that the expansionary force is constant throughout (relative to spatial curvature, perhaps), and as such should be treated as a mathematical property of the universe itself. ...but I'm no physicist.
