I'm not offended that SNL is using a white actress to parody Oprah Winfrey.

But it only underscores the fact that they don't have a black female in their employ.

Do you think that means they're racist/sexist against black females?

Not necessarily. But they have had a long, well-established history of employing black male comedians.

I'm just saying they're calling attention to themselves.

Actually, the woman that plays Oprah, Mya Rudolph, is interracial.

And that skit was hilarious, having seen the "My Favorite Things" episode first hand, heh. There really was that much freaking out. Someone like hyperventalated and couldn't breathe and she started crying and Oprah comes over and the woman says, "I'm so thankful. Oh, bless you, thank you," etc. and so on and so forth. Very crazy.

But hey, why wouldn't they go crazy? They went to the show thinking they'd watch her talk to Clay Aiken or something, and they find out that they're all going home with diamonds, expensive sweaters and the best macaroons ever, lol.

The taxi-driver skit made me a little uncomfortable too. I flipped thru some other channels, came back, and they were playing re-re-runs -- stuff that's already been on twice in just a few weeks!! I wonder if the local station was censoring something, or if the show fell apart. Did the show really go on (as it must!) anywhere else???
