I don't think Jung meant the term to denote something as meaningful as an omen, but the experience itself certainly falls into the same category; the word usage is changing accordingly in the postmodern age to incorporate the meaning embedded in such experiences of synchronicity.
It's an interesting thought... if it's in language, then it can become part of the mass-psyche with little difficulty. Perhaps it is a shift in language that will spur social change as much as anything. "Divine Light" and "non-local connectivity" make better buzz-phrases than "dog eat dog", "shock and awe", etc.
I'm still gathering information about synchronicity, especially Jung's thoughts on the matter; but yes, it's the experiential sense of synchronicity that spurred me to write that statement.
