What do steroids have to do with the state of the Union?

argh. I meant to watch it (it's always fun to see the machine at work), but I got caught up in something completely mindless. So,not having watched it,
what do steroids have to do with the State of the Union?

Bush brought it up right after some blurb about how we shouldn't give up the War on Drugs. I guess he was trying to link steroid use with illicit drug use.

However, he came off as being totally out in left field. I think members of Congress clapped because they didn't know what else to do.

I just read the state of the Union transcript (some of it anyway, the propaganda aspect of it is a bit hard on the forebrain). It really does come out of left field, couched in the idea of "setting a good example for the kiddies". Bah, violence is fine but drugs aren't? wtf?
I'm in a hostile mood today, so perhaps this isn't a good time for a rant.
I do wonder why he put it in though; perhaps it was homage to some campaign contributor's agenda.

Yeah, Bush is sending a fine message to our children, don't you think?

Well, not my children, either, except maybe my future children.

How's the weather up there, neighbor to the north? :)

'twas bitter cold last week (around -20C or lower), but it's quite nice now. The cool wind is more invigorating than frostbiting, and it's staying between -3 and -10C. Fluffy snow flurries abound.

Well I have a friend from Toronto who's moved here full time, here comment is that Melbourne has better weather, but a worse public transit system, otherwise they are fairly similar.

Melbourne, eh?
I'll have to check it out sometime. I can live with bad transit.

He said that so many times it's not funny. If I'd gone ahead and done the drinking game, I would have been plastered.
