So, after gearing up for it all last week, I finally returned to Rollercoaster Tycoon.
I couldn't go straight to Rainbow Valley, because I don't yet have the skills. So I had to choose a park that would allow you to research and develop every kind of roller coaster. There aren't that many in the game, but there are a few. I went with Aqua Park, because it's large and it comes with an array of already established water rides (i.e., it already has a good source of income).
I finally built my own roller coaster! I went with the corkscrew design, since according to the FAQ I found at gamespot.com it's one of the easier ones to construct. It's called Tickletwist and has a respectable excitement rating. The intensity is enough to scare away some sims, and it's rough enough to cause some sims to get sick. And they're willing to pay a reasonable amount to ride it (and I have a lot of repeat customers).
I built a successful coaster. Neat.
Now, it's all above-ground, so I still haven't cultivated the skills I need for Rainbow Valley. But baby steps.
I'm looking forward to building my next corkscrew coaster. They are pretty easy to build--the main challenge is getting up enough speed to spur the train through the loops. Tickletwist only has one loop--I want more!
I don't know if I'll ever tire of this game.

Date: 2004-01-19 01:32 pm (UTC)I've got several FAQs at my disposal, though, so I'm pretty armed with information. And I've got plenty of patience.
