Books I read as a child

I've been stricken by strong nostalgia. Someone on the radio mentioned Curious George, and I eventually began thinking of my little childhood library.

When I was 4 or 5, my absolute favorite book was The Monster at the End of This Book, a Sesame Street book narrated by Grover. I've met other people who loved this book as a child, and it's nice to know I'm not the only one who has a connection to that story.

I also had several Berenstein Bears books. I liked those. And some Dr. Seuss, of course.

But what I really, really loved were the books that were written by Richard Scarry. Those books are great for children. They are illustrated in detail, and label all of their illustrations. I'm sure much of my early bank of nouns were heavily stocked by the reading of those books. Lowly the Worm was a recurrent character.

Don't mind me. I just want to write these things down, while I'm thinking of them.

You know, A Horse and His Boy was the only Narnia book I never finished. I keep meaning to go back and finish it, but I never have.

Dunno if that means anything. But your talk to the Scarry books reminded me. I liked those, but I liked Suess more. Particularly Green Eggs and Ham and Beyond the Alphabet.
