For several weeks, I'd been buying Lender's egg-flavored bagels, because I've always liked them & had rediscovered my enjoyment of them. However, last week I read the ingredients list in full & discovered that they're made with high-fructose corn syrup. I decided to finish out the package I had but resolved not to buy any more.
Now, while eating my newfound dessert of frozen Yoplait Whips!, I turned over the container & found that it has the same problem! Aargh!
I can't have anything nice.

At least you can control what ingredients go in (honey vs. corn syrup, whole wheat vs. white, etc.).

When all is said & done, though, part of what I value is convenience. It would not be realistic for me to make my own pasta, bagels or yogurt. Still, it would be nice if nontoxic sugar were the standard. (Not that I expect, at this stage of the game, to completely eliminate HFCS from my diet. I'm just trying to heed the doctor's instructions & limit my intake.)
