It bemuses me to see in the days after the House vote promos on the cable news stations proclaiming, "Health care passed. Now what?"

Basically, the commentators are trying to drum up increased viewership by touting that they will be discussing what exactly is in the bill-now-law. To me, this just further illustrates how badly the anchors did their job of informing the American people what exactly was in the bill to begin with. Instead, they (especially CNN) filled their broadcasts with the characterizations of the bill's contents, usually purported by political operatives. They allowed the agents of misinformation disseminate their false talking points, essentially colluding to confuse the layperson trying to get clear ideas so as to make informed analyses. Just sad.

From my point of view, CNN is just as conservative and anti-Democrat as Fox News, just slightly less rabid and with a slightly better vocabulary.

Exactly. Fear sells - something Fox and various tools are know all too well. Now that HCR has passed and America isn't facing imminent destruction... they have to start looking for the next shiny object.

I find some of the commentators from CNN every bit as noxious and inflammatory as anyone on Fox. I've started watching BBC America news - my intelligence feels less insulted.

This is a perfectly crystallized description of a news cycle process that has puzzled me for a while. Thank you for posting!

Well said! The media have treated this like everything else that they cover, a Jerry Springer episode tarted up to seem tasteful. Or like an idiot that stares at a pointing finger, they focused on the debate without ever covering the issues.
