I just remarked to [livejournal.com profile] lameautarch yesterday that Sen. Sanders was my favorite as well.

I think the Senate needs more socialists.

I happen to like Byrd, mainly from his strong Constitutional defense prior to the Iraq war / fiasco. Yeah, he's ancient, not so active right now, and he's got some unpleasant history in his life, but so be it, I've got a soft spot in my heart for the guy that was all alone railing against the war at a time when so few in Congress had it in them to do so...
