HP Lovecraft is the most breathtakingly racist writer/writing I've ever read.
I mean it, breathtaking.
Not even the fucking "Bobbsey Twins in the Land o' Cotton" comes close.
It's like discussing racial subtext in "Birth of a Nation" or a Klan pamphlet. Its not actually subtext at that point, is it? I mean, really, a 3 page "scene setting" on how loathsome the short, squat, yellow, slant-eyed ,loathsome, filthy, cave-dwelling, evil, half-animal, dear God are they even people!!!? EW!!...is just not subtext. Oh and they are invariably in thrall to (and cross-bred with) ancient horror. I paraphrase, but only barely.
