Date: 2009-07-31 10:51 am (UTC)To me, this is more of a statement of either the way our media wants black women to remain materialistic and shallow, or perhaps a statement of the evolution of modern people in general.

The problem was the perpetuation of the stereotype in television programs and the films of that era, which suggested that such women were only to be in that context and that the behavior they exhibited was universal.
