sarahmichigan and dionysus1999 gave me space to make my first mulberry pie of the season. They seemed to like it. I think I should have let it cook a bit more, as the crust wasn't terribly brown and the sugar had yet to melt entirely, but it's definitely edible.

What does mulberry pie taste like?

Well, that would mean describing the way a mulberry tastes, and that's hard to do. I remarked to sarahmichigan that a pie made of mulberries on their own is kind of bland. It tastes like a random berry with a lot of fructose.

Fresh mulberries are one of my favorite summertime treats. Most go to waste as the owners of the trees just let the fruit drop to the ground. If I ever get my own place, I hope to have fruit trees, including mulberry trees.
