MJ was around long before Reagan. Thank goodness. Some of my favorite music by him originates from before I was born.
Ever since his passing, "Dirty Diana" and "Man in the Mirror" have been going through my head over and again. Earlier this year, I was singing "She's Out of My Life". His music will be with me probably until I pass away. Unlike other cultural icons that rose and fell, Jackson left an indeliable mark in the minds of multitudes.
His private misconduct? I'm not apologizing for that. I'm not an MJ apologist. I'm a fan of his music. Always have been, always will be. In the grand equation, that is what will stick with me.
I hope you realize I do not want to negate your tastes; I have no right to do that to anyone---I loved Neil Diamond until I found out "Sweet Caroline" was about a prepubescent Caroline Kennedy. His music is no less quality, though. Same goes for Pete Townshend, although his pedophilia has never really been proven. I know MJ was around long before Reagan. I guess I am just miffed at the two using each other, like Elvis and Nixon.
