eleri pointed out that PETA had taken the President to task for swatting a fly.

But why would they do that? The general public already had a certain perception of the organization. Now they look ridiculous. I say that even as a person who brushes mosquitoes instead of killing them.

PETA has an ongoing contest with Westboro Baptist to see which can look more like it's working for the other side.

Just like the NRA, I firmly believe that most PETA members are reasonable people. Unfortunately, the nut cases seem to end up as spokespeople.

Ask for everything, and then concede back to the point where you get exactly what you want, but now look like you're making all sorts of concessions.

The more ridiculous and extreme the far-end demand, the more reasonable it looks to ask for the little things.
