When I am away for awhile I just go to my friends list on my info page and click on individual folks...and scroll through what the latest is with them.
Things must be going well for you...generally (not always but generally) when folks are away from the puter for a long while, it is because they are happily involved in real life.

Believe me, if I had a net connection at home, I would rarely go a day without posting. *le sigh*
