Some people have said (and I didn't consider this until after I read their opinions) that Obama really is in a tough spot, because if he goes out-and-out on attack mode like McCain did, he will be perceived as the Angry Black Man.
Personally, that aside, I liked how Obama agreed with McCain--as some commentators expressed, this trait alone indicates that Obama is more interested in finding common ground and actually working toward solutions instead of scoring the ephemeral jab.
I wish either one, but especially Obama, would have answered the "What are you going to cut to pay for the bailout" question. Even if it was "I don't know," it would have been better than "Well, what I *will* want to fund are this, this, and this."
It was a bad question for him. He expects that he will reap tax revenues from the upper 5%, so where exactly is this "cut" coming from? Yes, he may need to revise how much funding his projects receive, but he has a vision, and that will require resources.
Judging from the debate, who do you think undecided voters now lean toward more? Obama -- McCain came across as a condscending bully. (Who's elitist now?)
