Robert Novak hits pedestrian in his black Corvette, then flees scene -- And he's fined $50?! Do we know if he was intoxicated? Does he have a medical problem that would contribute to "not noticing" a struck pedestrian? (I hit a dog once and knew right away--you tend to notice these things.)

Would anyone else in this situation get a fine for fifty bucks and be told to be on one's way?

Unfortunately, no. I could hear a squeal, and of course I stopped immediately. It was dark, and I was on a dirt road with deep ditches. The dog must have retreated into some part of one of them. I couldn't tell. I went to the nearest home and let them know what happened.
