I like the New Yorker cover. And apart from any liberal or conservative positioning, I think Obama's public reaction to a magazine cover that was clearly on his side is another sign of him abandoning his own strengths.

He was previously very good at avoiding the everyone-proclaim-offense-about-everything attitude that has been dominating politics lately (I can't be the only one getting sick of this), but that started to falter when he repudiated Rev. Wright after all (after everyone loved his speech where he refused to), and was largely gone by the time Clark pointed out that McCain's military service didn't include executive experience.
