Jul. 7th, 2008 01:11 amThe buck doesn't stop here; it just keeps falling: Crumbling value of the dollar resonates through slumping economy
As gas was $20/barrel in 2000, I love to think that our dollar has become 1/7th of its former strength (that is, before Bush came into office).

US Economic warnings
Date: 2008-07-07 05:47 am (UTC)last week our main broadsheet newspaper ran some interesting articles
IMF finally knocks on Uncle Sam's door
US banking system is doomed
and on our Public Radio (which I listen in on the way to work - I heard this and thought I tell some of my American friends) and on podcast
"The Swiss-based Bank for International Settlements is the central bank
for central banks.
Its latest annual report argues that the consensus view underestimates
the problems and the world economy may be at a tipping point, facing an
economic catastrophe."
So if Im reading/listeneing to it on such staid, establishment papers as the Age
running those articles about the troubles in the US, and ABC 774 talking
about the imminent collapse of the US economy, in the media of a close ally of the US. its a bit of a worry.
Of course their are always to blogs to calm and reassure
