The Loud Silence of Feminists -- Why have mainstream feminists not come to the defense of Michelle Obama?
Also, as it seems some people weren't aware, Fox News called her Obama's "baby mama". If you click the link, you will find interesting comments by fellow Americans, including this gem:

Are you people serious. I think they just said it because Obama and Mama rhyme.
The folks who call this racist are probably racist themselves and are just projecting what the [sic] really think deep down inside.

By the way, what is a "feminist?" And no "talking out the side of your mouth."

Your profile says you like Bob Dylan. Did you know that Dylan actually endorsed Obama?

If you want to have a nice debate, substantiate your opinions. If you want to argue just to argue, you might want to post your ideas in your own journal.
I have long spoken about feminism in my journal for years. You can look at all of the ones I have so marked by clicking the tag above. My ideas about feminism have evolved as I have, over the years, and it is a continuing conversation.

Date: 2008-06-22 06:43 pm (UTC)The thing is, we can't; it's not a done deal, and we're not equal anyway. I asked a couple of friends why there were so few women at their company; it turned out that they will turn up the scrutiny on any girl who wanders into the department to the point that she'll flee. They *say* they want women, but their actions say they want a Girl Free Zone. A-yup.
But the 'It's a Done Deal' is so prevalent in corporate America that anyone speaking out winds up being alone - and cut out of the conversation. The battle really does need to be reinvigorated every decade.
