I especially liked the one on Obama and the relevance of a Black President. I hope that the author is right when he said:

"if Barack Obama is elected President of the United States, the world will never look at black people the same way again, and black people will never look at themselves the same way again, too.

Winning the White House, more than having a black Pope, is the one sure sign that African-Americans have truly arrived, because the US Presidency is without doubt the most powerful position on this planet.

An Obama victory would also be America's reparation for all the terrible sins it's done to black people throughout history, from slavery to discrimination to the assassination of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.

The small, handsome one

You say, "You would think that American newspapers would be informing the ignorant public of this." The reason is that the newspapers are ignorant too.

The comments about racism in the Philippines reminded me of a homophobic remark an Ethiopian immigrant made about seeing two gay guys walking around in the "pristine" country of California's Russian River. I pointed out that a racist would make the same remark about his presence there.
