Seriously. A couple of months ago, I'd contacted my editor about a decision I was in the middle of making. He thought I had decided to leave Third Wednesday. No, I had seriously considered--and decided against--walking from Ann Arbor to D.C. with sandwich signs stating Impeach Bush & Impeach Gonzales.

How serious was I? Well, I'd written down several things I knew I'd need to take with me. Mace being one of them.
