The Tomb of Jesus Christ? -- lots to be skeptical about here, including the journalist's own hidden bias: "Good sense, and the Bible, still the best existing historical record of the life of Jesus of Nazareth, argue against Jacobovici's claims. All four Gospels say that Jesus was crucified on the eve of the Sabbath; all four say that the tomb was empty when the disciples woke on Sunday morning." The Gospels were all written years after the events supposedly took place; so how are they reliable as historical records again? It's all speculation, and at this point it comes down to who has the most believable story. | [livejournal.com profile] metaphorge points out a related article.

[livejournal.com profile] rialian brings up the fact that the trial of Jose Padilla is poised to reveal the administration's interrogation techniques.

What I find striking is that the article mentions MK-ULTRA, a formerly secret CIA black bag operation that operated from the 1950s until the 70s. I just learned about MK-ULTRA in the last few days, after coming across a reference to the MONARCH children. Stuff about the children seems real conspiracy theory stuff, but MK-ULTRA did indeed exist. Much of the information of the operations of MK-ULTRA is lost to time, as documents were ordered destroyed.
