I'm really tired of the pundits carrying this water for Clinton as Vice President. A "dream ticket".

Look. It's not the press' place to determine who should be on the short list, let alone the pick overall. Conjecture, sure. But it is the candidate's right to pick whomever s/he wants.

If Obama is the Democratic nominee, he should be able to make his choice without the pressure of the press.

I mean, where are they getting this information? Did anyone poll voters as to whether they would want such a ticket?

Another Cheney might be amusing, but not really in the best interests of the country.

Today's headline - Clinton impeached for shooting co-hunter in the face!

If we could impeach Cheney first . . . .

yeah, crazy. I think Clinton might be a decent VP, but I don't think the two of them would make a good ticket.

I think having her would undercut his message about not operating in the traditional Washington way a bit.

On the other hand, there are an awful lot of people claiming they'd only vote for one or the other of them in the fall, and a joint ticket might neutralize that. But maybe someone with significant military or foreign policy credentials (Wesley Clark, Colin Powell) could neutralize why some people don't like Obama. I dunno. Clinton would probably be a helpful choice overall, but she might not be the only one.

I think that Clinton would actually weaken the ticket. She comes with automatic Republican hatred, which would lure people to vote against her.

I think there are several other candidates he could choose to shore up support. You're not the first person I've heard float Clark's name.

Clinton might be a good VP, but not in an Obama administration. Can you imagine the dysfunction, especially after this primary?

I'm still saddened by a lack of Edwards' willingness to consider being VP.

There are folks who are saying he would make an excellent Attorney General (and I cannot argue with them).

You don't understand! The pundits are the experts; mere politicians should defer to them. And, of course, the voters will defer to the politicians.

Which is not what the pundits would say publicly, but I believe it's how they see things.

I think she'd be wasted as a VP -- I'd rather she stayed in the Senate than move to a do-nothing token position. And if she was an activist VP like Cheney, she'd only get in Obama's way. She'd make a DAMN good appointment to SCOTUS to replace Ginsburg, though, since Ginsburg's going to retire right after the Democrats take the White House.
