Look. It's not the press' place to determine who should be on the short list, let alone the pick overall. Conjecture, sure. But it is the candidate's right to pick whomever s/he wants.
If Obama is the Democratic nominee, he should be able to make his choice without the pressure of the press.
I mean, where are they getting this information? Did anyone poll voters as to whether they would want such a ticket?

But maybe someone with significant military or foreign policy credentials (Wesley Clark, Colin Powell) could neutralize why some people don't like Obama. I dunno. Clinton would probably be a helpful choice overall, but she might not be the only one.
