Australian scientists develop apple that doesn't go brown -- and it's not genetically altered

Inspector General: Conflict of interest on NASA review board -- "A board set up to review construction of the spaceship to return astronauts to the moon is loaded with employees of the very contractors they are supposed to scrutinize, breaking federal law, a government watchdog says."

You mean only traditionally genetically modified, right? I mean, not to nit-pick, but horticulture, like animal husbandry, is definitely a genetic process, it's just less precise than actually splicing in a gene by hand.

I was going to say the same thing. It was genetically modified, alright, just the slow, old way (cross-breeding) instead of in a lab.

I was trying to highlight the difference between that apple and the modified corn that the US produces and which many European countries have banned.

My apologies for using "altered" when I should have said "modified".

It's not just you- the article used "without genetic modification" which is, technically, not true. It just wasn't gene-spliced.

People with their paranoia about gene modification often don't really understand what that means or that farmers have been practicing gene modification on a slower, smaller scale for hundreds if not thousands of years.

Okay, so what I should have said is that it's not Frankenfood. Everyone understands that term.
